As a graduate
student at the University of Georgia, I studied urban design particularly how it relates to
demographics.
Please explain your reasons for wanting to serve on this board
I enjoy the look of Orange County-trees and unimposing towns. As the population of North
Carolina grows and Orange county receives more residents, this balance of nature and people
stands to entice developers both residential and business. I would strive towards a balance
among the factors of demographics, affordability, housing, recreation and helpful ecosystems
(such as tree cover to lower heat island effects), tax base and economic growth. I want to see
my home county grow wisely.
How would your particpation on this board contribute to the diversity of viewpoints?
What I can say about myself is that I try to reach consensus and respect and listen to all
viewpoints before making my decision.
I am a renter in Carrboro and I believe because of the high percentage of renters in the southern
part of Orange County, I can bring a needed perspective to the board.
Not knowing the personal stories and living situations makes it difficult to precisely pinpoint how
my experience widens the board s diversity.
