As a
business owner, I bring an understanding of how local decisions affect economic vitality,
workforce opportunities, and the broader health of a community. I'm accustomed to digesting
large amounts of information before evaluating long-term decisions. Running a company has
taught me to balance competing stakeholder needs, from customers and employees to
regulatory requirements. I believe this parallels the need for balanced, thoughtful, evidence-
based decision-making in land use and community planning. Lastly, as a BN Duke Scholar, my
education exposed me to a wide range of civic challenges and public policy issues shaping the
Carolinas, and their intersection with land use.
Please explain your reasons for wanting to serve on this board
I am actively seeking new ways to serve my community. After joining some of the community
engagement sessions for Land Use Plan 2050 on the suggestion of Commissioner Bedford, I
have become particularly interested in the future of our county's growth and conservation
efforts. I hope to bring an insightful perspective in support of our decision-makers and County
staff.
How would your particpation on this board contribute to the diversity of viewpoints?
