Box 8181 <br />Hillsborough NC 27278 <br />Dear Chair Brown: <br />Subject: Board Appointment <br />May 9, 2003 <br />The Orange County Recreation and Parks Advisory Council reviewed all. applicants for the Recreation <br />and Parks Advisory Council and recommends Carroll Lewis Hawkins to :Fill the Cedar Grove Township <br />position currently vacant. Mr. Hawkins is a resident of Cedar Grove. <br />"The criteria for this position are: <br />• That the applicant selected be a resident of Cedar Grove township, th<~t he/she show an active <br />interest in the development and improvement of recreational opportunities and parks in Orange <br />County. <br />• That he/she possess experience or training in recreational activities and/or <br />• Experience or training or demonstrated interest in parks and a <br />• Willingness to commit to active participation on the Council <br />In addition, the Recreation and Parks Advisory Council is committed to increasing the diversity of <br />Council members and committed to preserving a geographical balance of representation whenever <br />possible. <br />It is the feeling of the Council that Mr. Hawkins will provide valuable input as a member because: <br />• He is originally from Cedar Grove and since working away from the area, has returned to live in <br />Cedar Grove since 1997. <br />• He is an officer in the Cedar Grove Ruritan Club, and as such may bring with him an opportunity <br />for understanding between our organizations. <br />• He will represent the Township of Cedar Grove as a resident and property owner. <br />• He is an active volunteer, for the "Meals on Wheels" program. <br />• He is a graduate in Business Administration from High Point University. <br />• He has an interest in parks and recreation as demonstrated in selecting this board as his first choice <br />among all others. <br />Thank you for your consideration of this nomination. <br />Sincerely, <br />.L'c+f[i .J a.~t <br />C:\CLERK'sDOCUMENTS-C DriveW P P O I N T M E N T S\2003\2003-05- <br />20\RPAC.recmd.ltr.
