BACKGROUND AND PROJECT GOALS <br />In late August 2020, the Metropolis Regional Sustainability Council’s Energy Coalition received the <br />executed contract from the Metropolis Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) titled, <br />“ENERGY EFFICIENT UPGRADES TO A CITY OWNED NEWSPAPER BUILDING .” <br />The primary goals of this initiative are to collaborate with leadership teams and facility managers <br />across public institutions, private enterprises, non-profits, and city agencies to: <br />• Enhance energy management programs at the Daily Planet <br />• Identify opportunities for reducing energy costs <br />• Advance environmental sustainability throughout the city <br />The original contract was valued at $126,000, with a start date of September 1, 2020, and an end <br />date of June 30, 2022. <br />A.
