I am currently the
art teacher at Guy B. Phillips Middle School in Chapel Hill. I am a past president of The Puppetry
Guild of the Carolinas and was a professional puppeteer for 10 years. I founded Maker Camp
CH, a summer camp program that ran for 4 summers before closing due to the Covid pandemic.
Please explain your reasons for wanting to serve on this board
I've always been involved in facilitating youth participation in the arts. Serving on this board will
allow me to further that involvement and contribute the perspective of a local art teacher.
How would your particpation on this board contribute to the diversity of viewpoints?
As a teacher, I understand the needs and considerations of young people and their families
regarding community events such as those offered by the OCAC. I ve seen through my
participation in the Paint It Orange subcommittee how this specific knowledge helps the
organization plan for youth events and widen the reach of such events for a broad community
audience.
Do you have any personal or business interest(s) that could create a conflict of interest
(either real or perceived) if you are appointed to this board?
