3 <br /> This year's national theme is "Brilliant Ideas at Work" The theme encourages counties, parishes and <br /> boroughs to feature their most innovative and successful programs —those truly making a difference in <br /> residents' lives. <br /> To celebrate County Government Month, the Community Relations Department will coordinate a social <br /> media campaign showcasing County employees and the important work they do. Staff will also spotlight <br /> some of the County's most successful and innovative programs. <br /> Community Relations Director, Wil Glenn, presented the County Government Month <br /> Proclamation, explaining that every April NACO celebrates County Government Month as an opportunity <br /> to tell residents about all the great things counties do to serve them. He noted that this year they would <br /> be profiling employees as the most valuable county commodity. <br /> Commissioners read the following proclamation in turn: <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> COUNTY GOVERNMENT MONTH—APRIL 2026 <br /> WHEREAS,the nation's 3,069 counties serving more than 330 million Americans provide essential services <br /> to create healthy, safe and vibrant communities; and <br /> WHEREAS, counties fulfill a vast range of responsibilities and deliver services that touch nearly every <br /> aspect of our residents' lives; and <br /> WHEREAS, counties as intergovernmental partners enact local, state and federal programs to address the <br /> needs of all residents; and <br /> WHEREAS, Orange County and all counties take pride in our responsibility to protect and enhance the <br /> health, well-being and safety of our residents in efficient and cost-effective ways; and <br /> WHEREAS,the nation is celebrating 250 years of independence this year and counties have a long and rich <br /> history of serving residents; and <br /> WHEREAS, each year since 1991 the National Association of Counties has encouraged counties across the <br /> country to elevate awareness of county responsibilities, programs and services; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Commissioners has made tremendous investments in public <br /> education, affordable housing, human services, economic development and public safety to enhance the <br /> quality of life for all county residents; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT we,the Orange County Board of Commissioners, do hereby <br /> proclaim April 2026 as County Government Month and express our appreciation to the County employees <br /> who make our community such a special place to live,work, play and raise a family. <br /> This the 7th day of April, 2026. <br />
