Attachment 2 <br /> 1 <br /> 1 DRAFT MINUTES <br /> 2 ORANGE COUNTY <br /> 3 BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> 4 WORK SESSION <br /> 5 April 14, 2026 <br /> 6 7:00 p.m. <br /> 7 <br /> 8 The Orange County Board of Commissioners met for a Work Session on Tuesday,April 14, 2026, at 7:00 <br /> 9 p.m. at the Southern Human Services Center in Chapel Hill, NC. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Jean Hamilton,Vice-Chair Amy Fowler, and Commissioners <br /> 12 Jamezetta Bedford, Marilyn Carter, Earl McKee, and Phyllis Portie-Ascott <br /> 13 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Sally Greene <br /> 14 COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br /> 15 COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Travis Myren, Deputy County Manager Caitlin Fenhagen, <br /> 16 and Clerk to the Board Laura Jensen. (All other staff members will be identified appropriately below) <br /> 17 <br /> 18 Chair Hamilton called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. All commissioners were present, except <br /> 19 for Commissioner Greene. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 A motion was made by Vice-Chair Fowler,seconded by Commissioner Carter,to suspend the Rules <br /> 22 of Procedure to consider approval of a resolution opposing modifications to county property tax authority. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 25 <br /> 26 A motion was made by Commissioner Portie-Ascott, seconded by Commissioner McKee, to <br /> 27 opposing modifications to county property tax authority and authorize the Chair to sign. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 30 <br /> 31 1. Durham Tech Presentation <br /> 32 The Board received a presentation on various topics related to Durham Technical Community College. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 BACKGROUND: Durham Technical Community College President JB Buxton will provide a presentation to <br /> 35 the Board on various topics including some College goals, the outlook for the future, the Orange County <br /> 36 K-12 Partnerships, County-supported Workforce initiatives, and the Orange County Campus <br /> 37 addition/renovation project. <br /> 38 <br /> 39 JB Buxton made the following presentation: <br /> 40 <br /> 41 <br />
