3 <br /> 1 This year's national theme is "Brilliant Ideas at Work" The theme encourages counties, parishes and <br /> 2 boroughs to feature their most innovative and successful programs —those truly making a difference in <br /> 3 residents' lives. <br /> 4 <br /> 5 To celebrate County Government Month, the Community Relations Department will coordinate a social <br /> 6 media campaign showcasing County employees and the important work they do. Staff will also spotlight <br /> 7 some of the County's most successful and innovative programs. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 Community Relations Director, Wil Glenn, presented the County Government Month <br /> 10 Proclamation, explaining that every April NACO celebrates County Government Month as an opportunity <br /> 11 to tell residents about all the great things counties do to serve them. He noted that this year they would <br /> 12 be profiling employees as the most valuable county commodity. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 Commissioners read the following proclamation in turn: <br /> 15 <br /> 16 ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> 17 PROCLAMATION <br /> 18 COUNTY GOVERNMENT MONTH—APRIL 2026 <br /> 19 <br /> 20 WHEREAS,the nation's 3,069 counties serving more than 330 million Americans provide essential <br /> 21 services to create healthy, safe and vibrant communities; and <br /> 22 <br /> 23 WHEREAS, counties fulfill a vast range of responsibilities and deliver services that touch nearly every <br /> 24 aspect of our residents' lives; and <br /> 25 <br /> 26 WHEREAS, counties as intergovernmental partners enact local, state and federal programs to address the <br /> 27 needs of all residents; and <br /> 28 <br /> 29 WHEREAS, Orange County and all counties take pride in our responsibility to protect and enhance the <br /> 30 health, well-being and safety of our residents in efficient and cost-effective ways; and <br /> 31 <br /> 32 WHEREAS, the nation is celebrating 250 years of independence this year and counties have a long and <br /> 33 rich history of serving residents; and <br /> 34 <br /> 35 WHEREAS, each year since 1991 the National Association of Counties has encouraged counties across <br /> 36 the country to elevate awareness of county responsibilities, programs and services; and <br /> 37 <br /> 38 WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Commissioners has made tremendous investments in public <br /> 39 education, affordable housing, human services, economic development and public safety to enhance the <br /> 40 quality of life for all county residents; <br /> 41 <br /> 42 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT we,the Orange County Board of Commissioners, do hereby <br /> 43 proclaim April 2026 as County Government Month and express our appreciation to the County <br /> 44 employees who make our community such a special place to live, work, play and raise a family. <br /> 45 <br /> 46 This the 7th day of April, 2026. <br /> 47 <br /> 48 <br />
