Simultaneously, the UNC
system was exploring divestment from utility operations, leading to the creation of a single entity
responsible for all community utilities. He said today OWASA serves approximately 86,000 people
in Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and at UNC with about 150 employees. He said while UNC was initially
over 50 percent of water sales, it now represents about 20 percent as the customer base has
diversified. He said UNC is still the largest customer.
Slide #3
Hd(s°er°u9h
Operational Overview r
011A6.A 8 o'
Water Supply s—i.A'. .•
University Lake ca°streak
Cane Creek R°"°`r
Quar WnUora Chapel HA Durham
• Quarry Reservoir ® e=5rvryo;r
Jordan Lake(via mutual aid agreements) wamrshea
Jones Ferry Road Water Treatment Plant °naa"a i •„
UnlvafSAy ®s
e+.vice caunrr Lake %
Wastewater Management
Mason Farm Wastewater Treatment Plant g
Reclaimed Water System
Emergency Interconnections of Drinking Water Z'
System
• City of Durham(Town of Cary) Lake
• Town of Hillsborough F
• Chatham County N Q CeryApvxlnoa
A1'matoro <
PobMM11nNX•F Mani
n Jwdan
