This will be limited to
two per year up to five years from the date of award or as otherwise agreed to by the Recipient and Orange
County Economic Development Office.
Exhibit C

Additional Information

Use of Funds: $10,000 towards the Electrical wiring of farm building (permit and inspection) contracted labor
and materials.

Purpose: I grow perennial basketry willow and other crops that are harvested for use in craft products. I am
applying for funds to electrify a farm building I am constructing. The completed building will be used to store and
process craft plants, create products from those plants (woven baskets, mats, etc.), and teach workshops using
material grown on the farm. When completed, this building will be a site for farm-to-craft production and
education, and I plan to continue to grow my operation to include more raw material sales as my perennial
cultivation increases. In my work as a craft educator, I regularly meet people who are seeking a way to reconnect to
the environment and to the act of making things through land-based crafts, using natural materials, and learning a
heritage craft. Through this work I have identified an unmet need in the market for locally sourced materials. My
project will meet this need, and serve as an example for other makers and artisans that there is an economic
advantage in growing raw materials in-house. While the crop and craft I am focusing on is willow basketry, in the
future this space can also host workshops on harvesting timber for green woodworking, digging clay for pottery,
making plant pigments, growing broom corn, and so on. The 1300 square foot building is partially completed, and
the next step of full electrical wiring will move me much closer to completion. This building includes a conditioned
space for material storage, a space for processing and weaving with material I have grown, room for workshops of
10 - 20 people, and a shop for building and repairing additional infrastructure. The funds that I am applying for
would go entirely towards hiring an electrical subcontractor to wire the building, making it a fully functioning
facility.
Docusign Envelope ID: 8585746F-141B-8A9D-81F5-7F48681777BE
