Growth pressures, housing affordability, infrastructure
capacity, and environmental stewardship are all intersecting in ways that require thoughtful,
disciplined decision-making. I am interested in serving on the Planning Board because I care
about the long-term durability of our community and the role that sound policy plays in shaping
everyday life. Land use policy is not abstract. It determines whether people can afford to live
near their work, whether families have access to schools and transportation, and whether
neighborhoods are designed in ways that make daily life more manageable. I am motivated by
the belief that good policy should create conditions that enable individuals and families to build
stable, productive lives. Planning decisions, when made carefully and transparently, can
expand opportunity and reduce unnecessary barriers. My professional work centers on
strategic planning and institutional sustainability. I am accustomed to evaluating complex
documents, weighing tradeoffs, and helping boards make decisions that balance competing
priorities while maintaining procedural integrity. Planning decisions shape fiscal health,
infrastructure systems, environmental resilience, and community character for decades, and
they require steady governance rather than reactive decision-making. I would welcome the
opportunity to contribute analytical rigor, long-term perspective, and a commitment to policies
that make life in Orange County more accessible, functional, and sustainable for the people
who live here.
How would your particpation on this board contribute to the diversity of viewpoints?
My participation would contribute a governance- and systems-oriented perspective to the
board's work. Much of my professional career has been spent helping institutions make
structured, long-term decisions in complex environments. I tend to approach issues by
examining data, process, and long-term impact rather than focusing solely on immediate
outcomes. I also bring experience across multiple sectors. I have worked in federal public
service, county-level civic leadership, nonprofit executive management, and small business
ownership. Those experiences provide a broad view of how land use decisions affect
institutions, families, employers, and community organizations differently. As both a parent to
young children and a local business owner, I experience Orange County from multiple vantage
points. I understand the importance of housing access, infrastructure reliability, and fiscal
sustainability not only in theory but in daily life. At the same time, my background in governance
has required me to work in contentious environments while maintaining procedural fairness and
discipline. I believe diversity of viewpoint is strengthened not only by different lived experiences
but also by different decision-making styles. I bring a structured, analytical approach that
emphasizes long-term community durability, balanced growth, and respect for adopted
standards.
Do you have any personal or business interest(s)that could create a conflict of interest
(either real or perceived) if you are appointed to this board?
Human Relations Commission
Please explain how your background, education and experience is relevant to this board
My professional and civic background centers on governance, institutional accountability, and
equitable access to opportunity. In my current role as Chief Operating Officer of a national
consulting firm, I work with nonprofit institutions to strengthen leadership structures, financial
sustainability, and long-term community impact. That work requires careful attention to fairness
in policy implementation and the ways institutional decisions affect people differently. As Board
Chair of a community-based preschool, I oversee policy, compliance, and community
engagement within an educational setting that serves families from varied backgrounds. This
role has reinforced the importance of transparency, consistency, and procedural fairness. My
prior service at the federal level and in county civic leadership exposed me to civil rights
considerations, public accountability, and the importance of structured processes that protect
