I have experience
managing teams and coordinating services, which has helped me develop skills in
communication, problem-solving, and advocating for people's needs. In addition, I have been
actively involved in mental health education and community support through programs such as
the Peer-to-Peer training with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). This experience
has strengthened my understanding of how systems of care impact individuals and families,
especially those who depend on community services. These experiences have helped me
develop empathy, organizational skills, and the ability to listen carefully to concerns; qualities that
are important when advocating for residents in adult care homes and nursing homes.
Please explain your reasons for wanting to serve on this board
I am interested in serving because I believe community members play an important role in
ensuring that people who live in care facilities are treated with respect, dignity, and compassion.
Many residents of adult care homes and nursing homes rely on others to advocate for their well-
being. I would like to contribute my time and perspective to help ensure their voices are heard
and that facilities are supporting residents in a safe and respectful environment. Serving on this
board would allow me to give back to the community while helping improve awareness,
transparency, and support for individuals who may not always have the ability to advocate for
themselves.
