29 <br /> Visioning Process <br /> Community members gathered at the Orange County Solid Waste Center on May 18 and the Bonnie B. <br /> Davis Environment&Agricultural Center on May 21 to share their perspectives on the Trails Plan vision <br /> through a variety of interactive exercises. The vision workshops were then replicated as an anonymous online <br /> survey to reach as many residents as possible; this survey was open from July 15 to August 22. Since these <br /> engagements asked the same questions, they were synthesized together into the following key findings. <br /> WHO WE REACHED <br /> Orange County Residents <br /> 96% of the workshop and survey participants were Orange County residents, with 4% living outside the <br /> county limits. Non-residents expressed interest in the Trails Plan because they utilize Orange County's parks, <br /> trails, and open spaces. <br /> Length of Residency <br /> The majority of participants reported they have <br /> lived in Orange County for 10 to 20 years or <br /> longer, but there was representation across the <br /> - entire spectrum from new to lifelong residents. <br /> <1yr , <br /> a' <br /> 1-2 yrs - <br /> 2-5 yrs <br /> 5-7 yrs - <br /> 3 <br /> 7-10 yrs <br /> 10-20 yrs <br /> 20+yrs <br /> Whole life <br /> Workshop participants draw the priority connections that 0 5 10 15 20 25 30 35 40 45 <br /> align with their goals for the Trails Plan. NUMBER OF RESPONSES <br /> Townships Represented <br /> Residents from all seven townships participated in <br /> We heard... the visioning process,with the top three townships <br /> being Hillsborough, Chapel Hill, and Bingham. <br /> Local trails are the single <br /> HILLSBOROUGH <br /> most important recreational 45°i° CHAPELHILL <br /> Z7°/, CHAPEL HILL <br /> opportunity for attending to 91 BINGHAM <br /> my physical and mental health, 40L <br /> 8% ENO <br /> ordering my daily routine, 107 5% CEDARGROVE <br /> communing with my dog, and RESIDENTS 3% CHEEKS <br /> connecting to nature.
