D10c. Does your project
save on natural gas?
No
D10d. Does your project
save on food waste?
No
D10e. Is your project
nature-based? (For
example, community
gardens, tree plantings,
soil health practices, and
prairie restoration
projects)
No
D10f. Does your project
reduce emissions in
some way other than
what was listed above?
Yes
How does your project
reduce greenhouse gas
emissions and what
metrics can you share to
support this number? (An
example metric is acres
of land)
W hile our overall approach to sustainability will also include energy efficiency improvements and a
geothermal installation with the goals of reducing and offsetting 100% of our total greenhouse gas
emissions, our specific solar project will offset 100% of our electricity usage at the farm. In 2023,
the farm used 153,108 kW h. A 99.9 kW DC solar array that accounts for all kW h demand would
avoid producing 96 metric tons of CO2 each year based on EPA's greenhouse gas emissions
calculator and verified by Steve Lysenko at NC Clean Energy Technology Center. Note that this
varies from the 32 metric tons calculated by this grant application’s autogenerated data. W e will
use the grant application-generated 32 metric tons per year calculated for the remainder of this
form, so all estimates below are very conservative.
https://www.epa.gov/avert/avoided-emission-rates-generated-avert
D11. How many TOTAL
metric tons of
greenhouse gas
emissions will your
project reduce or avoid
OVER THE LIFETIME of
the project? [Please use
the number(s) calculated
above (row 4 of tables),
or provide your own
estimate if those figures
were insufficient or if you
have additional
measures to include.]
7249
D12. W ere any
additional calculations
required in coming up
with the number entered
above (this includes
adding two or more
numbers together)?
Yes
Please list any data
sources used and show
the steps of your
calculations. Feel free to
submit in a separate
document if clearly
labeled. (500 word limit)
The number above considers the solar plus geothermal greenhouse gas emissions savings over
the lifetime of the project (25 years). Calculations for the geothermal portion of the savings are
provided in the attachment.
Option file upload to show additional calculations.
Propane_Use_GHG_Sav ings_Calculations_2024_-_2024.pdf
Docusign Envelope ID: 1EDD1EF6-0E3A-40E1-B431-94002662BCDF
