D39. How long will it <br />take your project to <br />complete and <br />demonstrate the <br />positive impacts you <br />describe? (200 word <br />limit) <br />Positive impacts from this project will be seen on day one because some <br />of the neighborhoods are already participating in the project. New <br />neighborhoods will likely take about 2 months to get organized before they <br />start food waste collection. In the first month, we will start working to <br />identify a low-income neighborhood that may want to host a bin, and a <br />person from that neighborhood who we can hire as our part-time compost <br />ambassador. W e intend to identify this neighborhood and staff member <br />after 6 months. <br />Our ultimate goal is to see food waste collection implemented county-wide, <br />which would allow the most equitable access to this program. From the <br />most recent Orange County Solid W aste Advisory Group meeting, it's clear <br />that Orange County Solid W aste would like to implement such a program, <br />but the timeline for doing so is not clear. W e're hopeful that our efforts will <br />provide Orange County Solid W aste with some of the additional information <br />needed to speed up the implementation process. <br />Section 5.
