D1. W ho will directly
or indirectly benefit
from your project?
Please be as
specific as possible
on the
characteristics of
those who will benefit
including, gender,
race, age, income
level and geographic
location. (200 word
limit)
All residents of our neighborhood partners will be encouraged to participate
in sorting and delivering food waste from young children to the elderly.
Households and congregations not familiar with the role of composting in
preventing GHG emissions would learn about this climate action strategy.
Some of our current neighborhoods are more diverse than the average
Carrboro neighborhood, including the 22 unit townhome community of Twin
Magnolias on Jones Ferry; the W hispering Hills community, where median
home prices are only $250,000; and the W ebbwood community that is
considered among the most affordable neighborhoods in Carrboro.
Designated community gardens like Baldwin Park in Northside, a low-
income neighborhood in Chapel Hill, will benefit by receiving deliveries of
free, high quality compost from CompostNow. The 5,000 square foot Giving
Garden on Umstead Road in Chapel Hill will receive compost from the
University United Methodist Church of Chapel Hill. Most of the produce
grown at the Giving Garden is donated to TABLE, which provides healthy
food and nutrition education to 1,100 low-income children in Orange
County.
All Orange County citizens will benefit from collecting and processing food
waste into compost because methane, a potent GHG, will be kept out of
the atmosphere.
D2.
