(200 word <br />limit) <br />Our project aligns with the local climate action plans, particularly Orange <br />County and Chapel Hill. Some of the specific focuses we are aligned on <br />include: <br />* Decrease vehicle miles traveled since we are increasing the percentage <br />of fresh produce we source locally <br />* Improve air quality through reduction of gas usage and vehicle miles <br />traveled, as well as increasing the amount of plants being grown and <br />therefore producing oxygen <br />* Promote a green economy through employment of farm workers with safe, <br />environmentally-sound working conditions (i.e. no chemical pesticides) <br />* Reducing water runoff by having farming and plants instead of an empty <br />field <br />* Reducing waste through compost, utilizing “seconds” or “misfits” (i.e. an <br />oddly-shaped zucchini might not sell at a store), and getting food farm-to- <br />TABLE faster and fresher than food shipped across the country <br />C2. Describe your <br />proposed use of <br />funds. (150 word <br />limit) <br />TABLE is respectfully requesting a $50,000 Orange County Climate Action <br />Grant. Funding would be used specifically for: <br />$14,000 for labor at the Twin Creeks expansion site <br />$22,000 for other equipment, supplies, and tools at Twin Creeks (including <br />fencing, tools, tillers, beds, tarps, irrigation systems, seeds, etc.) <br />$14,000 for labor at W ildflower Lane Farm <br />A grant of $50,000 would provide critical support, allowing us to farm <br />organically and regeneratively, feeding local kids in an environmentally <br />conscious way. W e anticipate this expense being just a fraction of the total <br />value we receive from the land to feed 1,250 kids in 25-26! <br />C5.
