D30. If this project is
not selected for
funding in this round,
what other funding
might be used to
support it within the
next 5 years?
Other grants, capital or operational funds
Criterion 5 - Local Economic Development This criterion has a maximum
score of 3 points (out of a total of 26 points).
D31. How many
Orange County
residents are
employed by your
organization?
Our organization is run primarily by student volunteers. W e hired an
accountant based in Mebane, NC, and the members of our board of
directors are from various parts of North Carolina, including Orange
County. SolarEquity has subcontracted the local company NC Solar Now to
complete the installation.
D32. W hat project
materials will be
purchased from
sources within
Orange County or
North Carolina?
W hat percent of the
total materials do
these represent?
(200 word limit)
NC Solar Now does not purchase any of its materials from sources within
Orange County. The only component of the project that is purchased from
within the county is the permit. The roof repair will be completed by a local
roofer, Full Circle Exterior Solutions, who will use local labor but not
materials.
D33. Please
describe any other
aspect of your
project that is
relevant to local
economic
development. (100
word limit)
The solarization of St. Joseph’s CME Church will cut energy bills by $104
per month, freeing $1,253 annually. Assuming 80% of this is reinvested
locally, and using a local economic multiplier of 5, the project will generate
$7,045 in annual community impact. If instead directed toward church
initiatives—many of which provide essentials like food and toiletries—
these savings can help lower poverty levels in the Northside neighborhood.
W hether through direct spending or charitable programs, the solar project’s
savings will circulate locally, supporting both economic growth and
community well-being.
Criterion 6 - Amount and Duration of Engagement This criterion has a
maximum score of 3 pts (out of a total of 26 pts).
Docusign Envelope ID: F42389BC-2D83-4E00-BC11-D720BFF48873
