2 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> COUNTY GOVERNMENT MONTH - APRIL 2026 <br /> WHEREAS, the nation's 3,069 counties serving more than 330 million Americans provide <br /> essential services to create healthy, safe and vibrant communities; and <br /> WHEREAS, counties fulfill a vast range of responsibilities and deliver services that touch <br /> nearly every aspect of our residents' lives; and <br /> WHEREAS, counties as intergovernmental partners enact local, state and federal <br /> programs to address the needs of all residents; and <br /> WHEREAS, Orange County and all counties take pride in our responsibility to protect and <br /> enhance the health, well-being and safety of our residents in efficient and cost-effective <br /> ways; and <br /> WHEREAS, the nation is celebrating 250 years of independence this year and counties <br /> have a long and rich history of serving residents; and <br /> WHEREAS, each year since 1991 the National Association of Counties has encouraged <br /> counties across the country to elevate awareness of county responsibilities, programs <br /> and services; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Commissioners has made tremendous <br /> investments in public education, affordable housing, human services, economic <br /> development and public safety to enhance the quality of life for all county residents; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT we, the Orange County Board of <br /> Commissioners, do hereby proclaim April 2026 as County Government Month and <br /> express our appreciation to the County employees who make our community such a <br /> special place to live, work, play and raise a family. <br /> This the 7th day of April, 2026. <br /> Jean Hamilton, Chair <br /> Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />
