She said they are trying to stay in conversation with everyone. <br /> 5 Vice-Chair Fowler asked for information on the statement that they are rebuilding the Town <br /> 6 of Chapel Hill's contribution. <br /> 7 Laurie Paolicelli described the tensions with occupancy tax collection and said that the <br /> 8 advisory board wants to study it before bringing recommendations to the Board of County <br /> 9 Commissioners. <br /> 10 Commissioner McKee said the conversation could be difficult, but they should tread <br /> 11 carefully because one cannot anticipate what the General Assembly might do. <br /> 12 Laurie Paolicelli said they are hoping to work on the issue locally. <br /> 13 Denise Duffy of the Arts Commission described the accomplishments over the last year, <br /> 14 noting the significant impact Tropical Storm Chantal had on the commission's programming. She <br /> 15 highlighted community support for the Arts Commission after the storm. She said they distributed <br /> 16 $95,000 in artist relief grants after the storm, and hosted the Uproar festival two weeks later. She <br /> 17 noted the visitor data from the festival and that it resulted in $84,000 in private support. She said <br /> 18 that they are planning a summer festival, expanding programming, and launching a new website. <br /> 19 She said $1 of arts grant funding generates $16 in local spending. She expressed appreciation to <br /> 20 the staff for their hard work through a challenging time. <br /> 21 Commissioner Greene highlighted the artist relief grants given by the Arts Commission to <br /> 22 artists impacted by the tropical storm, while also maintaining summer programming, launching <br /> 23 Uproar, and recovering from flood damage to the Eno Mill.
