32 <br /> Slide #6 <br /> Animal Control <br /> • We currently have: <br /> o Animal Control Manager(1) <br /> o Training and Lead Officer(1) <br /> o Senior Animal Control Officer(1) <br /> o Animal Control Officer(5) <br /> • Our officers work 8 a.m.to 5 p.m. during the week and respond to emergencies <br /> afterhours and on weekends. <br /> o Most animal concerns can wait a business day. <br /> o If we were to respond to non-emergency calls on weekends,we would need <br /> additional staffing both in animal control and in the shelter, as more staff would <br /> be needed to intake incoming animals outside of normal operating hours. <br /> Elizabeth Overcash said that animal control activities totaled 4,200 calls, the same as <br /> 2024. Services include enforcement of ordinances and state laws, rabies control, injured animal <br /> care, livestock assistance, and law enforcement support. Officers operate 8-5 weekdays with 24/7 <br /> on-call coverage for emergencies, including bites, rabies exposures, and injured animals. <br /> Slide #7 <br /> Animal Control <br /> • Afterhours, holiday, and weekend response is limited to: <br /> o Neglect/cruelty situations(that CANNOT wait until <br /> the next business day) <br /> o Aggressive animals <br /> o Injured strays <br /> o Rabies exposures <br /> o Bites to humans <br /> o Law enforcement requesting assistance F <br /> o Livestock(or other animals) in roadway and/or <br /> creating hazard <br /> o Injured deer(if law enforcement is unable to <br /> dispatch) 1 <br />
