ORANGE COUNTY ABC BOARD—AGENDA FORM <br /> Meeting Date: May 20, 2025 Agenda Item #6 <br /> Regular Session X <br /> Closed Session <br /> Distributions <br /> Grant distributions projected for FY 2026 have increased significantly from the base year <br /> (2022).Law enforcement has increased 20.48%while alcohol education has increased 26.58%. The <br /> distribution to Orange County has increased 66.30%. <br /> For this draft budget,grant distributions to be approved by the Board have been estimated based <br /> on requests from law enforcement and alcohol education grantees. Total requests from law <br /> enforcement were $227,345 while community organizations requested$463,583. <br /> For purposes of the FY 2026 draft budget, grant requests have been estimated: Law <br /> Enforcement($200,000)and Alcohol Education($250,000). <br /> i <br /> The budget allocation for the Orange County General Fund was determined by a letter <br /> received from Kirk Vaughn,Budget Director for Orange County,dated 04/24/205. The total request <br /> for FY 2026 ($881,600) is a 4.95% increase over the present year. <br /> Grant requests approved by the Board in May will be amended in the draft budget, to be <br /> approved by vote in June. <br /> II <br /> Attachment"Page 5" Capital Improvement Plan <br /> With available revenue tightening, capital expenditures for the coming year have been <br /> postponed or delayed. <br /> With the closing expected June 30, 2026, the purchase of the northern Orange County <br /> property is included in the FY 2026 budget. Should delays in the rezoning process or other approvals <br /> occur,the purchase may occur in the following fiscal year. Funds for this purchase are expected to <br /> be drawn from cash currently held by the Board. <br /> Debt service on the Mebane store held by First Horizon bank is projected to be $162,000. <br /> The first-draft Annual Budget("Page 6') is presented for review and consideration as is the Annual <br /> Budget Ordinance ("Page 7'). <br /> i <br /> I <br /> Action Requested: <br /> 1.
