10. Staff Support Areas Basic School - 5,600 sq. ft. <br />Tier B - Add 2,400 sq. ft. <br />The State recommends that combined or shared space for teacher's offices /workspace be <br />provided. There should be at least one centralized workroom that houses equipment such <br />as the copy machine, duplicator, specialized computers, etc. The size of the lounge area is <br />determined by the building plan and faculty size. The lounge should provide limited <br />kitchen facilities. <br />Local Basic NC Public School Facility Standards <br />Standards (Sq. Ft). <br />Teachers' The State requires that for grades K -3, <br />Workrooms: 100 to 125 square feet be provided for <br />teacher offices /workspace. For grades 4 <br />and above, 80 to 100 square feet per <br />teacher is required. <br />• Ifindergarten 300 <br />• Grades 1,2,3 900 <br />• Grades 4,5 600 <br />Additional Teacher 500 <br />Workspace/Offrces <br />Teachers' 1,000 required but size varies <br />Louuge/Workarea <br />Itinerant Support 300 300 <br />Tier B includes additional workrooms for the kindergarten level (300 square feet), one <br />conference room per grade level (1,500 square feet), a general conference room (200 <br />square feet) and a speech/language conference room (400 square feet). <br />11. Cafeteria /Food Service Basic School - 4,500 sq. ft. <br />Tier B - Add 200 sq. ft. <br />The State uses a formula for determining the appropriate size for the dining room and <br />kitchen area. The dining area should provide between I2 and 14 square feet per pupil <br />dining Based on three seatings, the size of the dining room should be at least 2,400 <br />square feet and 2,800 square feet.
