Since entering medicine, I have strived to integrate the arts and humanities into my
clinical, academic, and teaching practice. These efforts have ranged from recording life reviews
with people in hospice care, to researching the history of animal use in medical education, to
leading medical residents in reflective writing exercises. How we communicate with each other
in society is important to me and seems central to the role of the Arts Commission.
Please explain your reasons for wanting to serve on this board
Through these different experiences, I have gained an ever evolving and solidifying
appreciation for the role of the arts in the development of relationships and community. I want to
work alongside Iikeminded people committed to the perpetuation of the arts in Orange County
and beyond.
How would your particpation on this board contribute to the diversity of viewpoints?
I don't know if my participation on the board would contribute to the diversity of viewpoints in
any unique way, but I do know that I approach the arts through the lens of human health.
Because I am not employed in what may be considered a traditional arts profession, I also may
offer useful perspectives on how the Arts Commission can impact members of the population
similarly situated.
Do you have any personal or business interest(s)that could create a conflict of interest
(either real or perceived) if you are appointed to this board?
