Please name the <br />action items from the <br />Carrboro Climate <br />Action Plan that best <br />align with your <br />proposed project. <br />(200 word limit) <br />This project supports the Town’s Community Climate Action Plan Buildings <br />Recommendation #1: Reduce Emissions Attributed to Carrboro Buildings <br />by 80% by 2030, which suggests creating energy efficiency <br />templates/toolkits for residents. In addition, this project supports Carrboro’s <br />Comprehensive Plan Chapter 4 Strategy 4.2 - Expand Access to <br />W eatherization, Energy Efficiency, and Continue W ater Conservation <br />Measures for All, Especially Lower-Income Residents and Small Business <br />Owners, in New Construction and Retrofits to Existing Buildings. It also <br />supports Chapter 6 Strategy 1.2: Reduce community greenhouse <br />emissions attributed to Carrboro buildings by 80% from 2010 levels by <br />2030, which discusses improving the energy efficiency of buildings to <br />reduce emissions related to energy use. In addition, the plan states that its <br />climate action and environment strategies were designed to advance race <br />and equity by increasing access to renewable energy, energy efficiency, <br />and green stormwater infrastructure by providing financial subsidies. The <br />plan also discusses increasing energy and water conservation in new <br />construction and rehabilitation to reduce costs to homeowners and renters. <br />C2. Do you have <br />another project to <br />add? <br />No <br />Funding Request Summary Please list all proposed projects (please list <br />project name only) for which you are requesting Community Climate Action <br />Grant funding for Fiscal Year 2025-26. Make sure to include a brief <br />description of the proposed use of funds. Applicants will be asked to <br />provide more details on their proposed project budget in the Budget <br />W orksheets linked template. <br />C3. Total Funding <br />Request <br />29145 <br />C4. Describe your <br />proposed use of <br />funds. (150 word <br />limit) <br />Funding will be used to: 1) Fund home energy audits for 25 single-family <br />homes and rental units. 2) Create five home energy audit kits to loan out to <br />residents. 3) Present two energy efficiency workshops (one for <br />homeowners and one for renters). Staff will hand out educational materials <br />and giveaway bags with energy efficiency-related items. 4) Recruit 5-10 <br />people in communities hard hit by climate harm to be in a cohort group to <br />act as leaders in their neighborhoods to help reach silent voices. These <br />leaders would be compensated for their time. W e will train the trainer <br />workshops for these leaders so they could learn how to teach others to <br />perform simple actions to save energy. 5) W ork with an ECOStudio an <br />intern to help design a webpage and social media outreach for the program. <br />C5.
