C1c. Please
describe your
project’s benefits,
including those that
are quantifiable. (150
word limit)
This program will benefit Carrboro residents by providing energy efficiency
education and training. Twenty-five households will receive an energy
audit. This will help them make informed decisions about ways to improve
the energy efficiency of their residences and the costs and benefits of
replacing older, gas equipment, with efficient, all-electric units. Residents
who take action as a result will benefit from lower energy bills. The entire
Town will benefit from reductions in emissions. Homeowners who complete
energy efficiency improvements on their homes will also increase the value
of their residences.
Staff anticipate reaching 231 households through the program, with an
estimated 115 households reducing energy use by 5%, 108 households
reducing energy use by 10%, and eight households reducing energy use by
15%. This will result in a reduction of energy use in Carrboro by 249,027
kW h and 291.28 BTI annually, resulting in a reduction of 67.41 metric tons
CO2e.
C1d.
