GHG Reduction
(Lifetime, metric tons
CO2e) Comments
This does not include the electricity savings calculated. I did not add it in,
though, because I think the 5280 figure is generous because not all
seedlings will survive and the seedlings will have limited impact until they
are mature.
# of people served in
one year
1350
# of people served in
one year comments
GHG Data Complete checked
GHG Data
Comments
Lifetime reduction is based on 40 years. Please note that estimated
reduction does not account for the following: Not all seedlings will survive
and the seedlings will have limited impact until they are mature.
Other Staff
Comments
BOCC & CFE Review Data and Notes
Overall Comments
from HRC (BOCC
Report)
This project combines beautification of neighborhoods with practical use of
trees and plantings to reduce flooding and water damage to homes, and
includes community education, consideration of income levels and the use
of library/community center.
Concerns:
W hile it is highly likely that this project will support communities that are
often marginalized, it cannot be guaranteed.
A great climate project, but certainly not prioritizing or addressing social
justice or racial equity concerns in any direct way, including recognition of
specific communities. Very general about its impact, though as with all tree
planting initiatives, a valuable response to climate mitigation. The
requesting program itself lacks diverse leadership, doesn't appear to have
significant experience with a project like this, and leaves doubt about
whether it would successfully be able to engage and work collaboratively in
and with communities of color and low resourced communities.
No specific plan was shared to target certain populations, but data shows
that target populations will benefit.
Recommended
Application
checked
CFE Recommended
Funding (enter $0 if
not recommending)
30000
Application Ranking 3
Overall Comments
from CFE Meeting
(BOCC Report)
Targeted approach to planting trees in disadvantaged communities and
educating residents. Plan in place to engage and educate tree owners and
keep trees alive. Strong partnerships. Deducted $7,000 for admin costs
and $3,000 to round down.
Docusign Envelope ID: CB1A7685-96B7-4FBD-80E0-8CF756D5E579
