Is there <br />anything else you <br />would like to add <br />about the benefits of <br />your project, how <br />much community <br />engagement and/or <br />education it will <br />create, or how long it <br />will last? (150 word <br />limit) <br />This project delivers lasting environmental, social, and educational benefits <br />well beyond the grant period. By planting 100 native trees per year and <br />distributing 1,000 seedlings annually, we create a living legacy that will <br />provide shade, reduce heat, improve air quality, and manage stormwater <br />for 40+ years. <br />Our engagement strategy ensures deep community involvement, from initial <br />outreach through ongoing tree care. Residents will help select species and <br />planting locations, attend interactive workshops, and receive resources to <br />support long-term maintenance. This participatory approach builds <br />ownership and fosters environmental stewardship. <br />The educational component extends impact by equipping participants with <br />practical skills and knowledge they can share with neighbors, multiplying <br />the benefits over time. Even after the project concludes, the trees will <br />continue to enhance property values, improve health outcomes, and <br />strengthen climate resilience - making this a high-value, community-driven <br />investment in Orange County’s environmental future. <br />Criterion 7 - Time to Complete This criterion has a maximum score of 3 <br />points (out of a total of 26 points). <br />D39.
