D36. Please
describe how you will
engage with and/or
educate project
participants and/or
the community. (250
word limit)
Our engagement strategy combines direct outreach with community-based
partnerships to ensure we reach residents in the neighborhoods most in
need of increased tree canopy. W e will connect with potential participants
through community forums, presentations to HOA boards, referrals from
partner organizations, tabling at local events, and door-to-door outreach in
targeted areas. This personal, place-based approach builds trust and
ensures residents understand the benefits of participating.
Education is delivered through interactive workshops hosted in accessible
community spaces such as libraries, community centers, and neighborhood
gathering areas. These sessions will follow adult learning principles,
emphasizing real-world relevance, interactive dialogue, and practical
application. Participants will learn about the environmental, economic, and
health benefits of trees; proper planting and care techniques; and how to
advocate for continued canopy growth in their community.
By combining technical instruction with hands-on demonstrations, we
ensure participants not only understand the content but feel confident
applying it. Every household receiving a tree or seedling will also receive
printed and digital care guides to reinforce learning and promote long-term
tree health.
This blended outreach and education approach empowers residents to
become active stewards of their environment, creating a ripple effect of
environmental awareness and action that extends well beyond the project’s
duration.
D37. How will you
measure the success
of that engagement
or educational effort?
(200 word limit)
W e will measure the success of our engagement and educational efforts
through a combination of participation tracking, knowledge assessment,
and qualitative feedback.
Tracking Participation:
W e will maintain records of households receiving trees, individuals
receiving seedlings, and attendees at each workshop. This will provide a
clear count of direct beneficiaries and help us assess reach across target
neighborhoods.
Knowledge Gains:
At workshops, we will administer brief pre- and post-session questions to
measure changes in participants’ understanding of tree benefits, planting
techniques, and care practices. This will allow us to quantify learning
outcomes while keeping assessments short and accessible.
Responsive Facilitation:
Recognizing the importance of reducing survey fatigue, our facilitators will
use real-time observation, participant questions, and interactive
discussions to gauge comprehension and adjust instruction accordingly.
This ensures educational content meets participants at their current level
and builds practical skills within a reasonable range.
Docusign Envelope ID: CB1A7685-96B7-4FBD-80E0-8CF756D5E579
