D22. Please
describe any other
aspect of your
project that is
relevant to the
efficient use of grant
funds. (150 word
limit)
The efficient use of grant funds is a core value of the Orange County Pay-
W hat-You-Can program. W e maximize cost-effectiveness through
extensive volunteer involvement, enabling us to reach high-need
neighborhoods while keeping labor costs low. Our Board includes skilled
environmental and community engagement professionals, including
Certified Arborists, who contribute expertise.
Bulk purchasing of native trees and seedlings reduces unit costs, and
partnerships with local suppliers allow us to secure in-kind donations of
compost, mulch, and other materials. Community workshops will be hosted
in donated spaces, as much as possible, to avoid venue costs.
Our streamlined project management process ensures minimal
administrative overhead while maintaining professional planting standards.
This strategic approach ensures every grant dollar directly supports
planting, education, and the removal of financial barriers for lower-income
households.
Criterion 4 - Capacity of Applicant This criterion has a maximum score of 3
pts (out of a total of 26 pts).
D23. Has your
organization
completed projects of
this type in the past?
Yes
If so, what funds
were used? (100
word limit)
Trees for the Triangle has successfully completed similar projects that
expand tree canopy, improve environmental equity, and provide community
education. Past funding sources have included individual donations from
residents, “pay-it-forward” contributions from our Pay-W hat-You-Can
model, and support from local businesses. W e have also secured local and
regional grants, including community climate action funds and private
foundation awards, to scale these efforts. These funding streams have
enabled us to plant thousands of trees across the Triangle, demonstrating
our capacity to deliver impactful, cost-effective, and community-supported
urban forestry projects.
D24. Have you
completed similar
projects in the past
and successfully met
the proposed
budgets and
timelines?
Yes
Docusign Envelope ID: CB1A7685-96B7-4FBD-80E0-8CF756D5E579
