D15. Please
describe any other
aspect of your
project that is
relevant to the
amount of emissions
that it will reduce or
avoid. (250 word
limit)
In addition to their primary roles in providing shade and sequestering CO2,
the trees planted offer several systemic environmental and public health
benefits that contribute to overall emissions reduction:
• Temperature Regulation: By providing shade and cooling, trees help
mitigate the urban heat island effect. This cooling effect reduces the need
for air conditioning, which in turn lowers energy consumption and fossil fuel
use for electricity generation.
• Air Quality Improvement: Trees play a crucial role in improving air quality
by filtering particulate matter and other pollutants from the air. This
purification of the air can help reduce respiratory problems among
community members, leading to better public health outcomes.
• Stormwater Management: The tree roots and the soft, non-compacted soil
around them absorb and manage stormwater runoff. This absorption helps
reduce the risk of flooding and erosion, and the water is then transpired
back into the atmosphere, contributing to local and regional hydrological
balance.
• Educational Impact: The program includes an educational component
where residents learn about the environmental benefits of trees, air quality,
and energy efficiency. This knowledge encourages citizens to adopt
energy-efficient practices at home and in their communities. As they share
what they've learned, they can influence their community and peers to also
engage in sustainable practices, amplifying the program's impact beyond
individual homes.
Criterion 3 - Efficient Use of Funds This criterion has a maximum score of
4 pts (out of a total of 26 pts). Please see the Grant Project website for
further guidance and the Background and Information document for
information about technical assistance. Applicants are encouraged to ask
for clarification and technical assistance as early as possible and no later
than the posted deadline for questions.
D16. Is this a new
project?
Yes
The table below is
meant to support the
calculations of your
project's impact;
however, it may not
capture all aspects of
a project.
If the table is not able to capture the correct numbers for your project,
please enter "N/A" in those specific fields and upload an additional
document with this information.
Project Impact (do not enter a $ in front of the numbers)
Criterion 3 - Project Impact (New) (7).xlsx
Optional file upload
for project impact
calculations.
D17. Are there
additional impacts?
No
Docusign Envelope ID: CB1A7685-96B7-4FBD-80E0-8CF756D5E579
