C1c. Please
describe your
project’s benefits,
including those that
are quantifiable. (150
word limit)
Planting 200 native trees will sequester approximately 9,600 lbs. of CO
annually at maturity and intercept an estimated 1.2 million gallons of
stormwater each year, reducing flooding risk and erosion in vulnerable
neighborhoods. Strategically placed shade trees will lower surrounding air
temperatures by up to 10°F, decreasing energy use and cooling costs.
The distribution of 2,000 native seedlings will expand impact beyond our
plantings, enabling residents to apply workshop skills immediately.
Educational workshops will directly engage at least 100 residents,
equipping them to select, plant, and maintain trees for long-term success.
Socially, this project prioritizes low Tree Equity Score neighborhoods,
improving access to green space, enhancing air quality, and strengthening
community connections. These outcomes align with Orange County’s
Climate Action Plan goals, advancing equity while building a resilient,
climate-ready region prepared for future flooding events.
C1d. Please choose
the best description
for the type of
project*:
Other (Please describe)
Please describe
what type of project
this is. (100 word
limit)
This project combines tree planting, community education, and seedling
giveaways to expand canopy and reduce flood impacts. W e will plant 200
native trees in low Tree Equity Score, flood-prone areas; host workshops
on species selection, planting, and maintenance; and distribute 2,000
seedlings for immediate resident action. This integrated approach cools
neighborhoods, intercepts stormwater, cuts emissions, and empowers
communities to sustain climate resilience long after the project ends.
C1e.
