CATAWBA VALLEY 22
v ENGINEERING&TESTING
Scope of Services
CVET acknowledges receipt of Addendum 1 dated November 6, 2025, and Addendum 2 dated
November 24, 2025.
CVET understands the scope of work consists of five (5) soils test borings. Four (4) soils test borings
will be over water and one (1) will be on land. The four (4) over water borings require a 5-foot rock
core upon encountering bedrock. We understand that the on-land boring will be converted to a 2-
inch PVC standpipe piezometer with a flush mount well monument. We also understand the lab
testing requests and can perform the requested testing in-house allowing for increased efficiency.
Based upon our understanding of the timeline and urgency of the requested data, CVET proposes to
perform the over water drilling using two (2) sectional barges pinned together and a push boat to
create a safe and efficient working platform for completing the over water borings.
To expedite the project, CVET proposes to complete the on-land boring on the first day of
mobilization. While one crew is completing the soil boring on land, one crew will unload, place and
construct the sectional barges for the over water drilling. Day two will consist of mobilizing the drill
rig to the sectional barge and begin over water drilling operations.
CVET anticipates the field work will take 7 to 10 days to complete from initial mobilization to
complete demobilization. Based on our current schedule, we could begin mobilization the week of
January 12, 2026.
7
r
s
r
Relevant Factors
CVET offers CPT, DMT and standard SPT drilling methods. It is our experience that engineers value
the data from insitu test sounding such as CPT and/or DMT over SPT data for foundation engineering
(Intake Tower Foundations). CVET proposes perform CPT and/or DMT soundings from the mudline
to probe refusal conditions. If probe refusal is prior to bedrock, standard SPT sampling will be used
to reach bedrock/auger refusal elevations. Once bedrock is encountered, CVET will perform a 5-foot
wireline rock core. If the insitu testing methods (CPT/DMT) are not requested, CVET will perform
standard SPT sampling as outlined in the RFQ.
