(All other staff members will be identified appropriately below) <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Chair Hamilton called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. All commissioners were present. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 1. Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br /> 22 <br /> 23 A motion was made by Commissioner Carter, seconded by Vice-Chair Fowler, to add A <br /> 24 Resolution Advocating Accountability, Improved Oversight, and Reforms at the U.S. Department <br /> 25 of Homeland Security as Item 4-c. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 28 <br /> 29 Chair Hamilton read the public charge and reviewed the instructions for making public <br /> 30 comment. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 2. Public Comments (Limited to One Hour) <br /> 33 a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br /> 34 None. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 b. Matters on the Printed Agenda <br /> 37 (These matters will be considered when the Board addresses that item on the agenda below.) <br /> 38 <br /> 39 3. Announcements, Petitions and Comments by Board Members <br /> 40 Chair Hamilton expressed gratitude to county staff for their hard work keeping residents <br /> 41 safe during the inclement weather over the past couple of weeks. She said the community was <br /> 42 lucky not to get the worst of the storms, but it took a lot of effort to make sure the county was <br /> 43 ready if the worst happened. She announced that she will make remarks at the Durham Tech <br /> 44 campus expansion celebration on Thursday at 1:30 PM, in the Lyons Health board room, and will <br /> 45 also speak at a Habitat Housing summit on the same day. <br /> 46 Commissioner Carter echoed thanks for staff and community partners during the winter <br /> 47 storms. She said that today, a community member shared a video called Race in America, which <br /> 48 provided some very powerful data that speaks to the historic and current injustice and the bias <br /> 49 that exists within systems in the United States like incarceration, law enforcement, schools, and <br /> 50 so much more. She connected this to the evening's proclamation recognizing Black History Month <br />
