She <br /> asked if that was in the elementary schools. <br /> Travis Myren said the most significant factor is that the school age population in the county <br /> is going down. <br /> Commissioner Bedford said that Dr.Trice said it is evident in kindergarten enrollment. She <br /> said once a student is enrolled, they stay in the district. She said CHCCS is putting together a <br /> study group to discuss closing an elementary school. <br /> Commissioner Greene asked if it is due to homeschooling. <br /> Commissioner Bedford said it is due to birth rates; the children don't exist in the district. <br /> Commissioner Carter said they are hearing a lot about housing gaps, and folks not being <br /> able to live in the districts. She said they should keep that in mind when discussing the land use <br /> plan. <br /> Commissioner Bedford said CHCCS does not lose too many children to charter schools, <br /> but OCS does. <br />
