It is hopeful that <br /> other counties and regions will adopt this initiative to create similar teams across the state. <br /> The service period for this grant will be January 1, 2026 to June 30, 2026. This amendment <br /> provides for the receipt of these funds in the General Fund. <br /> ALIGNMENT WITH STRATEGIC PLAN: This item supports: <br /> • GOAL 2: HEALTHY COMMUNITY <br /> OBJECTIVE 2. Expand access to quality, affordable healthcare services. (e.g., <br /> Crisis Diversion facility, Medicaid expansion, crisis response, healthy living <br /> campaign). <br /> OBJECTIVE 3. Provide social safety net programming and the resources needed <br /> for our most vulnerable community members. <br /> OBJECTIVE 5. Invest in, support, train, and retain our community safety, health, <br /> and emergency services employees and direct care workforce. <br /> OBJECTIVE 6. Provide sustainable, equitable, and high-quality community safety <br /> and emergency services to meet the community's evolving needs. <br /> OBJECTIVE 7. Invest in services and programs that improve the health and quality <br /> of life of the community (e.g., recreation and public open spaces, arts, etc.) <br /> Fire Districts <br /> 8. The County has a contract with the various volunteer fire departments that provide services <br /> for the unincorporated parts of the county. In that agreement, all districts must conduct <br /> independent audits of their own financials, and the County will contribute up to $8,500 to <br /> offset the cost of the audits. More districts have charged their audit costs to the County, <br /> and this amendment appropriates $36,500 from General Fund fund balance to cover that <br /> expense. <br /> 9. The White Cross Fire Department has requested $20,000 from its Fund Balance to replace <br /> an unrepairable Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) compressor. This <br /> compressor provides breathable air to portable air tanks used in firefighting. This <br /> amendment will leave $12,000 in White Cross' unassigned Fund Balance. <br /> ALIGNMENT WITH STRATEGIC PLAN: This item supports: <br /> • GOAL 2: HEALTHY COMMUNITY <br /> OBJECTIVE 6. Provide sustainable, equitable, and high-quality community safety <br /> and emergency services to meet the community's evolving needs. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: Approval of this budget amendment will increase the budget authorization <br /> of the General Fund by $159,011, Multi-Year Grant Fund by $79,552, Fire District Funds by <br /> $20,000, Community Development Fund by $44,187, and the DSS Client Fund by $19,739. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board approve the budget, grant, and <br /> capital project ordinance amendments for Fiscal Year 2025-26. <br />
