Jarrett 6-1-66 63.00 Transferred to Alamance <br />County <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Ray, seconded by Commissioner Walker, and <br />unanimously adopted, Chairman Bennett was authorized to sign said Blind Aid Grants. <br />Mr. Ward explained to the Board the new policy, which was being instituted by <br />the State Welfare Board, in connection with the direct mailing of Public Assistance. <br />checks. The objective of this new policy being to place Public Assistance checks, <br />with attached Medical Services authorization, in the hands of the recipient the first <br />of each month. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Cleveland, seconded by Commissioner Ray, and <br />unanimously,adopted, the Orange County Welfare Department was authorized to advise <br />the State Welfare Department that the county approved the institution of direct <br />mailing of Public Assistance checks. <br />C. T. Kaylor, Chairman of the Planning Board, and Harry Palmer, <br />representative of the Research Triangle Regional Planning Commission, presented to <br />the Board a draft for review and discussion of Orange County Zoning Ordinance. The <br />proposed ordinance for zoning would be applicable only to?,Ch&pel Hill Township. <br />Discussion ensued. <br />Paul Seibel, former Community Consultant Services Officer, introduced Pete <br />Grimes, Coordinator of the Community Consultant Program. Mr. Grimes stated that if <br />the Board desired to continue the Community Services Program some notice to Louis <br />Christian, Director of the Community Services Program for the State Welfare Board, <br />should be given, in order, for the State Department to fill the vacancy which now <br />exist in orange County. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Cleveland, seconded by Commissioner Ray, unanimously <br />adopted, it was ordered that Louis Christian, Director of the Community Services <br />Program for the State Welfare Board be advised that Orange County wished to have the <br />vacancy of Community Services Consultant filled. <br />Discussion ensued concerning the proposed Public Health Center. Upon motion of <br />Commissioner Ray, seconded by Commissioner Cleveland, it was moved and unanimously <br />adopted that, S. M. Gattis, the County Administrator, be and is hereby designated to <br />act as Treasurer for the proposed Health Center Building project. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board said meeting was <br />adjourned to meet again on Thursday, April 14, 1966 at`7;.30 p.m. in the Commissioners <br />Room at the courthouse in Hillsborough, N.
