I taught classes on a range of issues with and Peer Learning and <br /> Chapel Hill based NGO. It closed a couple of years ago after the death of its President. <br /> Interested no in becoming more involved in community activities. <br /> Past Service on Orange County Advisory Boards: <br /> am not currently serving on any of the boards, nor have I ever served before. <br /> Boards/Commissions applied for: <br /> Board of Health <br /> Please explain how your background, education and experience is relevant to this board <br /> I was a CDC staff member for 34 years and worked domestically in multiple states and <br /> internationally in multiple countries mostly Asia. Served as FHI 360's Vice President for <br /> Research for 12 years. FHI 360 is a Durham-based NGO. I have a masters in Public <br /> Management and Health Care Systems. I have authored or co-authored many scientific <br /> publications focused on public health. <br /> Please explain your reasons for wanting to serve on this board <br /> I had a long career in public health focused domestically and internationally and on many <br /> issues. I worked domestically in multiple states and internationally in many countries I am still <br /> deeply committed to public health goals and a major proponent of community involvement in <br /> decision making on public health issues. <br /> How would your particpation on this board contribute to the diversity of viewpoints? <br /> I have long experience in facing many public health issues and in designing and implementing <br /> programs and research. Just a few examples including participating as an epidemiologist on <br /> smallpox eradication in Bangladesh, measles elimination in the U.S., community planning for <br /> HIV prevention in the U.S. My broad experience and direct personal experience will help other <br /> board members gain deep understanding of issues. <br /> Do you have any personal or business interest(s)that could create a conflict of interest <br /> (either real or perceived) if you are appointed to this board? <br />
