1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: February 3, 2026 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 8-e <br /> SUBJECT: Change in BOCC Meeting Schedule for 2026 <br /> DEPARTMENT: Board of County <br /> Commissioners <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Text Calendar Laura Jensen, Clerk to the Board, 919- <br /> 245-2130 <br /> PURPOSE: To approve changes to the meeting schedule for the Board of Commissioners for <br /> calendar year 2026. <br /> BACKGROUND: Pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 153A-40, the Board of County <br /> Commissioners must fix the time and place of its meetings or provide a notice of any change in <br /> the Meeting Schedule. <br /> In one of the two supporting materials for the 2026 meeting schedule approved at the Board's <br /> October 7, 2025 Business meeting, the wrong location was listed for the February 17, 2026 <br /> Business meeting. The February 17, 2026 Business meeting will be held at the Southern Human <br /> Services Center in Chapel Hill. There are no other changes to this meeting. <br /> It is also proposed to begin the Board's Closed Session meeting on June 9, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. <br /> instead of 7:00 p.m. There are no other changes to this meeting. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with this item. <br /> ALIGNMENT WITH STRATEGIC PLAN: This item supports: <br /> • GUIDING PRINCIPLE — COMMUNICATION AND AWARENESS <br /> We provide information and opportunities for engagement in a transparent manner so that <br /> all in our community have knowledge, understanding, and a voice. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board amend its meeting calendar for <br /> 2026 and hold the February 17, 2026 business meeting at Southern Human Services Center in <br /> Chapel Hill, and to hold the June 9, 2026 closed session at 6:00 p.m. <br />
