In addition to our field production, we will use the steamer to
pasteurize potting soil media that has already been used before to reduce annual costs of bringing in new
potting soil. It is a simple design that utilizes a tarp and a long hose that is permeable for the steam to
escape. The steam will pasteurize the top 3 inches of the soil thus killing weed seeds and disease in the soil.
From there the ground will be ready to plant or seed right into. We grow year round and we face tough
disease and weed pressure throughout the year but especially during the winter. The soil pasteurization is
particularly effective against sclerotinia which is our number one issue during the winter and early spring
months. We have talked with local and regional growers about the effectiveness of soil steaming and all
have responded with positive remarks and strong endorsements for the soil steaming process and its ability
to reduce weed and disease pressure.

Docusign Envelope ID: CDD42202-588D-482B-97B9-559AB221206E
