ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: September 20, 2005 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. ~- q <br />SUBJECT: Durham Technical Community College Campus: Schematic Design Review <br />DEPARTMENT: Purchasing and Central <br />Services <br />PUBLIC HEARING: (YIN) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Pam Jones, (919) 245-2652 <br />PURPOSE: To review progress on the Durham Technical Community College (DTCC) campus <br />development and provide comment as may be appropriate. <br />BACKGROUND: Orange County provided leadership during the joint County/College initiative <br />to acquire property to be used for the Durham Technical Community College (DTCC) campus. <br />The property acquisition was closed in early 2005. <br />DTCC is providing leadership for the design and construction of the campus and has included <br />the County in a number of decisions at critical junctures thus far in the project. Far example, <br />the County participated in the selection of the project architect, Corley Redfoot Zack (CRZ). <br />County Commissioners are asked to review and comment on the design in preparation for its <br />submittal to the State,. The County will be responsible for funding the on-going maintenance of <br />the building upon its completion. <br />DTCC officials will also be present tc provide additional information as the Board may find <br />necessary. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board receive the information <br />and provide feedback to CRZ and DTCC as may be appropriate. <br />
