As time permits, the Boards may wish to
discuss one or both of these topics, and to identify any points that staffs may need to research
and bring back as the subject of subsequent reports.
a. Student Membership Projections
In accordance with the Schools Adequate Public Facilities Memorandum of Understanding, the
Planning/Schools Technical Advisory Committee has developed certified, updated 10-year
student population projections using the approved models and based on actual student
membership in both school systems as of November 15, 2002. Among other purposes, these
figures serve as a basis for identifying additional school capacity that should be addressed in
the development of the County's 2003-2013 Capital Investment Plan. County and school staff
will be available to respond to board questions about the revised student projection tables and
the process used to update those.
Attachment 4a - 1: CHCCS Student Population Projection Tables
Attachment 4a - 2: OCS Student Population Projection Tables
b. Clarification of CHCCS Student Population by Geographic Distribution
During recent months, there has been some confusion about actual and projected student
membership in the southern end of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro School District. CHCCS staff will
make a brief presentation about the geographical distribution of current CHCCS students and
how that translates to the number of students who might attend a proposed third CHCCS high
school in the southern end of the district.
No Attachments
