Orange County Health Department Improvements Smith Sinnett /2024008 <br />Hillsborough,NC Orange County Asset Management Services <br />TESTING,ADJUSTING,AND BALANCING FOR HVAC 23 05 93 - 3 <br />6.Shall document critical paths from the fan or pump.These critical paths are ones in which are 100% <br />open from the fan or pump to the terminal device.This will show the least amount of restriction is <br />being imposed on the system by the TAB firm. <br />F All TAB technicians performing actual TAB work shall be experienced and must have done satisfactory <br />work on a minimum of 3 projects comparable in size and complexity to this project.Qualifications must be <br />certified by the TAB agency in writing.The lead technician shall be certified by AABC or NEBB <br />1.05 WARRANTY <br />A National Project Performance Guarantee: Provide a guarantee AABC or NEBB will assist in completing <br />requirements of the Contract Documents if TAB firm fails to comply with the Contract Documents. <br />Guarantee includes the following provisions: <br />1.The certified TAB firm has tested and balanced systems according to the Contract Documents. <br />2.Systems are balanced to optimum performance capabilities within design and installation limits. <br />3.Warranty Period: Five (5)years. <br />PART 2 PRODUCTS <br />2.01 PLUGS <br />A Provide plastic plugs to seal holes drilled in ductwork for test purposes. <br />2.02 INSULATION REPAIR MATERIAL <br />A Refer to individual insulation sections for repair of insulation removed or damaged during TAB work. <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br />3.01 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS <br />A Perform total system balance in accordance with one of the following: <br />1.AABC (NSTSB),AABC National Standards for Total System Balance. <br />B Begin work after completion of systems to be tested,adjusted,or balanced and complete work prior to <br />Substantial Completion of the project. <br />C Where HVAC systems and/or components interface with life safety systems,including fire and smoke <br />detection,alarm,and control,coordinate scheduling and testing and inspection procedures with the <br />authorities having jurisdiction. <br />D TAB Agency Qualifications: <br />1.Company specializing in the testing,adjusting,and balancing of systems specified in this section. <br />2.Having minimum of three years documented experience. <br />3.Certified by one of the following: <br />a.AABC,Associated Air Balance Council: www.aabc.com/#sle;upon completion submit AABC <br />National Performance Guaranty. <br />b.NEBB,National Environmental Balancing Bureau: www.nebb.org/#sle. <br />E TAB Supervisor and Technician Qualifications: Certified by same organization as TAB agency. <br />F For each air handling system,provide a graphical static pressure profile indicating the pressure drop across <br />each component of the air handling unit (filter,coils,dampers,wheel,etc). <br />3.02 EXAMINATION <br />A Verify that systems are complete and operable before commencing work. Ensure the following conditions: <br />1.Systems are started and operating in a safe and normal condition. <br />2.Temperature control systems are installed complete and operable. <br />3.Proper thermal overload protection is in place for electrical equipment. <br />4.Final filters are clean and in place. If required,install temporary media in addition to final filters. <br />5.Duct systems are clean of debris. <br />6.Fans are rotating correctly. <br />7.Fire and volume dampers are in place and open. <br />8.Air coil fins are cleaned and combed. <br />9.Access doors are closed and duct end caps are in place. <br />10.Air outlets are installed and connected. <br />Docusign Envelope ID: 2D852F9B-A7CF-462A-9536-444A53AA848A
