Orange County Health Department Improvements Smith Sinnett / 2024008 <br />Hillsborough, NC Orange County Asset Management Services <br />GYPSUM BOARD 09 29 00 - 2 <br />C.Above-Ceiling Observation: Architect will conduct an above-ceiling observation prior to installation of <br />gypsum board ceilings and report any deficiencies in the Work observed. Do not proceed with <br />installation of gypsum board to ceiling support framing until deficiencies have been corrected. <br />1. Notify Architect one week in advance of the date and the time when the Project, or part of the <br />Project, will be ready for an above-ceiling observation. <br />1.5 STORAGE AND HANDLING <br />A. Store materials inside under cover and keep them dry and protected against damage from weather, <br />condensation, direct sunlight, construction traffic, and other causes. Stack panels flat to prevent sagging. <br />1.6 PROJECT CONDITIONS <br />A. Environmental Limitations: Comply with ASTM C 840 requirements or gypsum board manufacturer’s <br />written recommendations, whichever are more stringent. <br />B. Do not install interior products until installation areas are enclosed and conditioned. <br />C. Do not install panels that are wet, those that are moisture damaged, and those that are mold damaged. <br />1. Indications that panels are wet or moisture damaged include, but are not limited to, discoloration, <br />sagging, or irregular shape. <br />2. Indications that panels are mold damaged include, but are not limited to, fuzzy or splotchy surface <br />contamination and discoloration. <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br />2.1 PANELS, GENERAL <br />A. Size: Provide in maximum lengths and widths available that will minimize joints in each area and that <br />correspond with support system indicated. <br />2.2 STEEL FRAMING AND FURRING <br />A. Available Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements, manufacturers offering products that <br />may be incorporated in the Work include, but are not limited to, the following: <br />1. Steel Framing and Furring: <br />a. Clark Steel Framing, Inc. <br />b. Consolidated Systems, Inc. <br />c. Dale Industries, Inc. <br />d. Dietrich Industries, Inc. <br />e. Marino/Ware (formerly Marino Industries Corp.). <br />f. National Gypsum Co.; Gold Bond Building Products Division. <br />g. Unimast, Inc. <br />B. Steel Framing Components for Suspended and Furred Ceilings: <br />1. General: Provide components complying with ASTM C 754 for conditions indicated. <br />2. Wire Ties: ASTM A 641, Class 1 zinc coating, soft temper, 0.062 inch thick. <br />3. Wire Hangers: ASTM A 641, Class 1 zinc coating, soft temper, 0.162-inch diameter. <br />4. Channels: Cold-rolled steel, 0.0598-inch minimum thickness of base (uncoated) metal and 7/16- <br />inch- wide flanges, and as follows: <br />a. Carrying Channels: 1-1/2 inches deep, 475 lb/1000 feet, unless otherwise indicated. <br />b.
