Orange County Health Department Improvements Smith Sinnett /2024008 <br />Hillsborough,NC Orange County Asset Management Services <br />IDENTIFICATION FOR ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS 26 05 53 - 1 <br />SECTION 26 05 53 <br />IDENTIFICATION FOR ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS <br />PART 1 GENERAL <br />1.01 SECTION INCLUDES <br />A Electrical identification requirements. <br />B Identification nameplates and labels. <br />C Wire and cable markers. <br />D Warning signs and labels. <br />1.02 ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS <br />A Coordination: <br />1.Verify final designations for equipment,systems,and components to be identified prior to fabrication <br />of identification products. <br />B Sequencing: <br />1.Do not conceal items to be identified,in locations such as above suspended ceilings,until <br />identification products have been installed. <br />2.Do not install identification products until final surface finishes and painting are complete. <br />1.03 SUBMITTALS <br />A Product Data: Provide manufacturer's standard catalog pages and data sheets for each product. <br />B Shop Drawings: Provide schedule of items to be identified indicating proposed designations,materials, <br />legends,and formats. <br />1.04 FIELD CONDITIONS <br />A Do not install adhesive products when ambient temperature is lower than recommended by manufacturer. <br />PART 2 PRODUCTS <br />2.01 IDENTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS <br />A Identification for Equipment: <br />1.Use identification nameplate to identify each piece of electrical distribution and control equipment and <br />associated sections,compartments,and components. <br />2.Available Fault Current Documentation: Use identification label to identify the available fault current <br />and date calculations were performed at locations requiring documentation by NFPA 70 including but <br />not limited to the following. <br />a.Service equipment. <br />B Identification for Conductors and Cables: <br />1.Color Coding for Power Conductors 600 V and Less: Comply with Section 26 05 19. <br />2.Identification for Communications Conductors and Cables: Comply with Section 27 10 00. <br />C Identification for Boxes: <br />1.Use color coded boxes to identify specified systems. <br />a.Color-Coded Boxes: Field-painted per the same color coding as identified in this section for the <br />system contained within. <br />b.Fire alarm junction boxes shall be painted on all sides including the box cover. <br />2.For boxes concealed above accessible ceilings or exposed in mechanical or electrical rooms use neatly <br />handwritten text using indelible marker to identify circuits enclosed. <br />3.For exposed boxes in public areas,use only type written labels. <br />D Identification for Devices: <br />1.Wiring Device and Wallplate Finishes: Comply with Section 26 27 26. <br />2.Use identification label to identify fire alarm system devices. <br />3.For devices concealed above suspended ceilings,provide additional identification on ceiling tile below <br />device location. <br />4.Use identification label to identify receptacles protected by upstream GFI protection,where permitted. <br />E Color Coding <br />Docusign Envelope ID: 2D852F9B-A7CF-462A-9536-444A53AA848A
