Chapel Hill Township Park and Educational Campus Update (CHATPEC) <br />The CHATPEC Master Plan Work Group has met on seven occasions with an initial meeting <br />on September 30, 2002. To date, the Work Group has taken a tour of the site, received a <br />report on site opportunities and constraints, received information on the Joint Planning Area <br />and OWASA infrastructure plans, and discussed and refined a list of potential park facilities. <br />The group has created two subcommittees - an Educational Campus Subcommittee (ECS) <br />and a Township Park Subcommittee (TPS), which have begun meeting to develop draft <br />concept plans for portions of the site. The Work Group met on April 10 and will meet again on <br />April 30. In May and June the Work Group plans to integrate the individual concept plans into <br />one master plan and hold a community forum before submitting their findings to the Board of <br />Commissioners in June. <br />No Attachments <br />b. Process for and Commitment of Resources to School Merger Analysis <br />At their January 25, 2003 annual planning retreat, the BOCC discussed a proposal from <br />Commissioner Carey to examine the implications of a potential merger of the two school <br />systems. This topic has been discussed at several other Commissioner meetings since then, <br />at the last of which the BOCC formally adopted a goal outlining the elements of analysis the <br />Board would like to receive before ultimately deciding whether or not merger should be <br />pursued. A staff report to the BOCC should be delivered by late summer. This goal will <br />
