He said the county commissioned an appraisal of the property. He said given <br /> the nature of the western portion and its adjacency to Duke Forest, staff initiated preliminary <br /> discussions with Duke Forest staff to determine their interest in the property. He said that this <br /> portion of the site could also be retained and managed by the county or another entity. He said <br /> they would like to see preservation of a small north-south trail corridor through the property. <br /> Chair Bedford asked if that would fit in the western part. <br /> David Stancil said it could, but it might fit best with the eastern edge. <br /> David Stancil said another point of discussion is possibly adjusting the easement access <br /> and provisions if, for example if the property were sold and not used for designated recreation <br /> purposes.
