ORD-2025 -040 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date : November 18 , 2025 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No . 8-g <br /> SUBJECT : Award of Bid for Installation/ Replacement of Booths at Solid Waste & Recycling <br /> Centers and Approval of Budget Amendment #4 - 13 <br /> DEPARTMENT : Solid Waste Management <br /> ATTACHMENT ( S ) : INFORMATION CONTACT . <br /> Certified Bid Tabulation Robert Williams , 919 - 9184904 <br /> Proposal from Central Builders , Inc . of <br /> Mebane <br /> Year4o - Date Budget Summary <br /> PURPOSE : To award a bid to Central Builders , Inc . of Mebane for the installation/replacement <br /> of eight ( 8 ) booths at three ( 3 ) of the Waste and Recycling Centers to protect staff from extreme <br /> cold and hot weather as the existing structures are inadequate for this purpose , and to approve <br /> Budget Amendment #4- 13 . <br /> BACKGROUND : The Orange County Solid Waste Management Department proposes to replace <br /> the current " booths" at the Eubanks Road (three booths) , Ferguson Road (one booth ) , and Walnut <br /> Grove (four booths) Waste Recycling Centers locations . <br /> The existing structures are not adequate for staff to be protected from cold and hot weather. <br /> Alternative heating methods have proved to be unsafe , and the purchase of air conditioning units <br /> has proven to be mechanically inefficient and costly over the years . <br /> Following a formal bid process , the Solid Waste Management Department recommends the bid <br /> submitted by Central Builders , Inc . of Mebane to install the eight ( 8 ) booths at a total cost of <br /> $229 , 000 . The cost breakdown is as follows : <br /> • Eubanks Road $ 76 , 830 <br /> • Ferguson Road $ 38 , 080 <br /> • Walnut Grove $ 92 , 890 <br /> • Labor and other Parts $ 21 , 200 <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT . The proposed budget amendment appropriates $229 , 000 in fund balance <br /> within the Solid Waste Fund , increases the authorization in the Solid Waste Replacement and <br /> Renewal Fund by $ 229 , 000 and creates the project ordinance below . Approval of Budget <br /> Amendment #4- 13 would increase the authorization in the Solid Waste Enterprise Fund and Solid <br /> Waste Replacement and Renewal Fund by $229 , 0000 <br />
