He said that the original <br /> 2 scheme for the property included low-impact recreation in the western part of the property and <br /> 3 keeping it in a largely rural state. He said the county commissioned an appraisal of the property. He said given <br /> 8 the nature of the western portion and its adjacency to Duke Forest, staff initiated preliminary <br /> 9 discussions with Duke Forest staff to determine their interest in the property. He said that this <br /> 10 portion of the site could also be retained and managed by the county or another entity. He said <br /> 11 they would like to see preservation of a small north-south trail corridor through the property. <br /> 12 Chair Bedford asked if that would fit in the western part. <br /> 13 David Stancil said it could, but it might fit best with the eastern edge. <br /> 14 David Stancil said another point of discussion is possibly adjusting the easement access <br /> 15 and provisions if, for example if the property were sold and not used for designated recreation <br /> 16 purposes.
