During <br /> the busiest period of drop-off/ pick-up, a small amount of queuing occurs on New <br /> Jericho Road. <br /> High school students and parents use Site Driveway 3 to enter and exit the site. <br /> A percentage of the high school students park on-site in the parking areas <br /> adjacent to the Early Childhood buildings and High School building (see Figure <br /> 2). It is important to note that the vehicles coming from the western portion of the <br /> site (High School and Early Childhood) cannot use Site Driveway 2, as it is a <br /> dedicated fire lane blocked off from through traffic. <br /> The existing access and on-site circulation of vehicles create several conflict <br /> points, especially between pedestrians and vehicles. Parents and students <br /> walking to the buildings cross moving traffic in parking areas and access drives <br /> with no visible crosswalks, specifically Site Driveway 2. This creates a safety <br /> concern, and causes vehicles to back-up within access drives and onto New <br /> Jericho Road while waiting for pedestrians to cross. In addition, the school <br /> provides coffee for parents during morning drop-off in an area adjacent to the <br /> Main Office / 1 st_4tn Grades Building. This amenity results in a grouping of people <br /> in an area that is busy with vehicles and vehicles occupying parking spaces for a <br /> longer period of time. <br /> Future Conditions — On-Site <br /> The proposed expansion includes improvements that will address existing <br /> circulation and queuing concerns. As illustrated in Figure ES-3, the three existing <br /> site driveways will continue to provide ingress/egress as they currently function. <br /> However, the drop-off / pick-up will be organized to provide sufficient on-site <br /> queuing and mitigate conflict points, as demonstrated in Figure ES-4. Site <br /> Driveway 3 will serve as ingress for all parents/students, with parents of the Early <br /> Childhood program and the High School using Site Driveway 3 to also exit. Site <br /> Driveway 2 will act primarily as a site egress point during school pick-up / drop- <br /> off, but will be full movement throughout the school day. Site Driveway 1 will act <br /> as a site egress only and will service parents that have picked-up / dropped-off <br /> students that do not need to be walked into school. <br /> Early Childhood parents, parents picking-up / dropping-off only high school <br /> students, as well as high school students allowed to park on campus will enter / <br /> exit the site via Site Driveway 3. Site Driveway 3 will be the sole access route to <br /> the northwestern most site parking lot that fronts the Early Childhood buildings. <br /> Based on the current bell schedule, high school students will arrive on campus <br /> and park (or be picked-up / dropped-off) prior to the arrival of the Early Childhood <br /> parents / students.
